The Dutch teenager, who had already claimed the European title last month, was in phenomenal form in the deep sand of her home GP. Sporting "Sweet 16" on the seat of her race jeans she dominated both practice sessions and catapulted from outside the top-ten to fifth already on the opening lap of racing. Continuing her advance at one position per lap she was second by lap four and then set about reducing the six-second gap to the leader. With three laps remaining she was on the leader's rear wheel and with an enthralling switch of lines swept around the outside in a deep sandy turn. She immediately moved clear to clinch her third GP moto victory of the season by nearly ten seconds. The twenty-five-point maximum score reduces her deficit in the series standings to fellow Kawasaki rider Courtney Duncan to twenty-eight points with three motos remaining. The victory also extended Kawasaki's lead in the FIM Manufacturers' Championship to twenty-seven points.
 
Lotte van Drunen: "It's amazing. I was slow out of the gate and I had to pass so many other girls but I was already into the top-ten at the second corner; I knew I was the fastest and really wanted to make it come true in front of so many home fans. The track was really rough but I enjoyed it and I hope they leave it overnight; I'm really confident for tomorrow too."
 
Big Van World MTX Kawasaki's Courtney Duncan, who had spent the last two weeks practicing in the sand in Belgium and The Netherlands after flying back to Europe from her native New Zealand, made an excellent start to quickly take over third and, despite losing out to the hard-charging van Drunen on lap three, soon regained the placing as she followed the Dutch girl through. A momentary slip four laps from the finish saw her surrender third again but fourth place was sufficient to maintain an eighteen-point lead over her closest chaser in the series standings.
