The track crew had been busy during the week to reverse the direction of racing for the second GP on consecutive weekends at the facility on the island of Lombok. The Swiss, fifth fastest in practice, was making a strong challenge for third in the Qualifying race until a temporary loss of momentum in a soft berm saw the current champion sneak past. He responded strongly in the closing stages of the twenty-minute-plus-two-lap race as fitness started to play a role in the heat and at the finish was only a second away from regaining fourth and only seven seconds from the winner.
 
Jeremy Seewer: "We had good pace today and even though we were fifth we were just seven seconds from the winner; the only person to pass me was Prado and he won the GP here last week. The track had a better flow in this direction and the jumps were nicer so I hope they can keep it maintained well and we can try for the podium tomorrow. Of course we have to be careful with the food here but it was a relaxed week with a little surfing and a trip to a small island as well as running and gym every day."
 
Bike It Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team's Jack Chambers finished thirteenth in Qualifying for the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship round, finding it difficult to advance further during the later stages of the race after quickly moving from sixteenth on the opening lap.
 
Jack Chambers: "I'm in there fighting close to the top-ten but everyone's really close on lap times so it all comes down to the start. The track is fast, which I like, and the dirt is the same but it flows a little different this way round and I just need to change a couple of things to be in the top-ten tomorrow; the start layout really favors the inside and I have a better gate for tomorrow."
