12 Lokakuu 2020 2021 Versys 1000 SE to feature Showa Skyhook technology

Designed to offer maximum enjoyment across a wide variety of riding situations, the popular Versys 1000 SE is taken to the next level of rider comfort and suspension feedback in 2021 with the addition of Showa Skyhook technology.

Already a leading machine in the any-roads motorcycle segment thanks to the fitment of Showa electronically damped front and rear suspension, this latest Skyhook technology is destined to take the highly popular Versys concept to the next level of quality and technology.

In practice, updated software for the Versys 1000 SE’s semi-active KECS system incorporates Showa’s Skyhook EERA (Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment) technology to deliver an even more composed ride.

The Skyhook concept imagines a hook supporting the motorcycle’s sprung weight and modulates the suspension’s damping force to allow the wheels to track the dips and bumps encountered while maintaining the motorcycle’s vertical position with minimal disturbance.

Showa’s Skyhook software, which has been carefully fine-tuned by Kawasaki engineers, ensures the Versys 1000’s sporty riding character has been preserved, delivering a smoother ride as it continually adapts to the road surface in real time.  Road holding ability is excellent, pitching (especially when riding with passenger) is reduced while steering remains light when riding on the highway and the bike feels more stable when riding in the rain.

This latest innovation is only part of the remarkable Versys SE specification, the highly capable any-roads machine has many more facets to its personality both in terms of chassis components and its impressive array of electronic rider aids.

With a sporting yet flexible four-cylinder across the frame format at its heart, the adventure focused 1,043 cm3 Versys SE benefits from electronic throttle valves which allow the adoption of electronic cruise control while Kawasaki’s IMU linked cornering management function facilitates a combined engine and chassis package.

The suite of electronic rider aids includes KTRC traction control as well as selectable engine power modes to suit conditions and rider preference. And speaking of the rider, the Versys SE also comes as standard with integrated rider modes allowing the selection of four modes which automatically combine the most appropriate settings for sport, road, rain plus a rider (manual) mode.

Practically speaking, the SE ergonomic package is well thought through with a tall adjustable screen for protection and, in terms of comfort, two possible seat heights thanks to an optional Ergo-Fit lower than standard seat available as a genuine accessory.

Bringing the comfortable long travel suspension equipped machine to a halt, KIBS intelligent anti-lock brakes rely on powerful radial mount front brake calipers while LED headlamps ensure that the route ahead is clearly defined. In fact the Versys SE is equipped with LED lighting throughout.

Underpinning the level of luxury, not only are a TFT meter panel and LED cornering lights part of the specification along with a Kawasaki quick shifter for fast and seamless changes up and down the gearbox allied to an assist and slipper clutch.

With smartphone connectivity between rider and machine possible thanks to the Kawasaki Rideology App, Versys 1000 SE owners can not only adjust their suspension via their smartphone screen but also see riding logs, service and oil change intervals plus clever additional items like the icon display of received phone calls and incoming emails.

Integrating equipment levels similar to a top end luxury car, it will come as no surprise to learn that the 2021 Versys 1000 SE is also equipped with Kawasaki’s Highly Durable paint which, via a “trampoline effect” of still semi-liquid molecules within the coating, can change the appearance of light scuffs back to standard looking paintwork using a high-tech recovery process.

Touring focus on the Versys 1000 SE is ably handled with clever additions such as a dash-mounted 12V power source for powering not just satellite navigation systems but a host of other power hungry essential items. Additionally the standard fitment of grip heaters, hand guards and a large windscreen on this top of range model ensures that when the weather changes for the worse the Versys 1000 SE rider can rely of comfort, safety and convenience as distances rush past.

Now, for 2021, when Versys riders hear Adventure Calling they will be able to respond with the most technically advanced and luxurious Versys ever.
